About Nicolas and Maria's Cottages
In the centre of the Anogyra village, down one of the narrow streets, is Nicolas and Maria's
traditional Cyprus cottages, an ideal destination for agrotourism
holidays in Cyprus village houses. The cottages are a traditional stone built house over 300 years old.
Nicolas, the present owner, lived in this family house with his grandparents - Nicolas and Maria
- until the age of 12. The family owned vineyards in and around the village and produced local wine which was stored in Pitharia (large clay storage pots) and Zivania (a local highly alcoholic drink). Zivania was made using a still, an example of which is in the courtyard.
The building has been renovated in the traditional style and converted into eight studios. All studios open into a quiet picturesque stone paved courtyard filled with a colourful array of plants, flowers, a pomegranate and olive tree, a traditional well and Kleftiko clay oven.
